Have you ever wondered why we’re called The Grand Porch Party?
Every year, our neighbourhood music festival falls on Canadian Rivers Day and we recognize this with a name in honour of the Grand River Watershed. Now you know we’re Grand in more than one way!
For us, being environmental isn’t just in our name, it’s in our DNA. We’re mindful of the impact our event has on the community and look to improve our practices each year. If you’ve been with us since the start, you’ll be familiar with our Environmental Partners at GPP and this year is no different!
We’re very pleased to be partnering with Waters Without Boarders, which is led by a member of our Uptown Waterloo West community: Amanda Sills. Amanda and her team are working on some very exciting activities to share with us at the Grand Porch Party. Stay tuned for the details!
This year, Water Without Boarders is hoping to raise $2,500 for a First Nations Water Project in the community of Pikangikum in Northern Ontario. As a festival founded on Canadian Rivers Day, we feel deeply about accessible, clean drinking water for all Canadians. To read more about this project and to donate (yay!), please click here.
