Music, music everywhere

Oh, Kitchener-Waterloo, you are amazing! In a wave of talent and enthusiasm, musicians from across the region, and even further afield, have inundated us with interest in this year’s event.

Which means…. we have confirmed some amazing acts, and most of them are new to the event! We have invited 25 bands already, and have even had to set up a wait-list of musicians hoping to still sneak in under the wire, once we have our porch numbers confirmed. (Speaking of – we need porches!! Spread the word!)

So who’s coming to play? Here’s just a brief taste of who’s new:

– The Coloured Marshmallow Brigade! Don’t recognize the name? That’s probably because they usually play as Sexdwarf. Yep, those rootsy KW rockers are going acoustic their first appearance at the GPP!

The Ragged Bankers and The Jinks, two rockin’ bands that will totally get you dancing. (What do those bands have in common? Chat to the guys at Folkway Music on Regina Street to find out….)

The Short Films is bringing its genre-hopping music for kids and grown-ups

– The children’s band The Skalywags will play at the Children’s Music Garden

– And finally, the man whose practice sessions in Tenille’s kitchen inspired this whole crazy event is able to play it! Kitchener-born singer-songwriter Michael Reinhart will be here on the day with a new album and a rich setlist.

PLUS the Adrian Jones Music School will hold its annual end-of-year concert to the GPP (there’s gonna be some talented youngsters on the stage).

On top of all that, we have a number of returning musicians too, including Roberta Hunt, Silvia Dee and the Boyfriend, Onion Honey, Richard Garvey, and smashing one-man band The Vaudevillian.

We’ll be announcing more as we get closer to the date, so stay tuned. And get ready for a fantastic third edition of the GPP!
