Holy wow! This party’s getting started!

There’s lots going on at GPP-HQ, so let’s get down to business:

First up, the sad news: Open Mic Porch is no more. It was going to be a bit troubling to organize for the porch hosts, and really, friendship can only be pushed so far. A big thanks to John for trying to make it work. Fingers crossed for next year!

If you have a guitar/harmonica/clarinet that MUST be busted out, feel free to bring it and stroll along Dunbar to serenade the passers by. (Please be respectful of scheduled players, though, and give them their space.)

There’s heaps of good news to follow, though. A HUGE congrats goes to Janice Lee, who won the KW Arts Awards’ Leading Edge Award this past weekend. Not only is Janice one quarter of the Tra La Las (you can see them at 64 Menno Street from 4pm on Sunday), she’s also a poet, actor and community organizer. Basically, she rocks. Go girl!

We got a whopping 1,106 hits on the website yesterday as people checked out the Event Map and started to plan the day. That’s freakin’ huge! Thanks all for showing such interest and supporting the idea of the GPP.

And finally, this post is dedicated to Mike Chong, who just sent the GPP a lovely note telling us how excited he is about this coming Sunday’s event. In the craziness of last-minute planning, your message means a heap. Thanks Mike!

See y’all on Sunday!
