Did you know that the Grand River watershed covers an area of almost 7,000km squared, reaching from Dundalk to Lake Erie?
And that 80 out of 215 of the Species at Risk in Ontario can be found in the Grand River watershed?
These are just a couple of reasons why the Grand Porch Party has partnered with rare Charitable Research Reserve in Cambridge to celebrate Canadian Rivers Day together on Sunday, June 10.
While you walk through Uptown West Waterloo from 2pm to 5pm, you’ll not only get to listen to wonderful musicians from around the region.
You’ll have the chance to speak with rare representatives AND to discuss the amazing work being conducted by researchers right here in Waterloo.
It’s all going to happen on the RarePorch, being organized now by the GPP’s wonderful Outreach and Engagement Volunteer Anna Beard.
So come and give the Grand a bit of love today on Sunday, June 10.
And in the meantime, learn more about this huge and complex water system by following the Grand Porch Party on Twitter for our daily fun facts.
