When we arranged this Grand Porch Party, we hadn’t heard of anyone holding an event like this, so had no idea how the public would respond. It turns out, they came in droves and are urging us to make this an annual (and, at some requests, monthly!) event.

Thanks to the popular demand, the annual event is being seriously considered, and not just in this neighbourhood. Other towns have approached us to discuss hosting a GPP in their neighbourhoods. For those who attended on Sunday, you might just have witnessed the start of something pretty special.

In the meantime, if you didn’t receive your free Swim Drink Fish membership slip, you can go to their website and enter the code ‘Alternatives’ for your free one-year membership. Expect to see the Alternatives Podcasts there soon!

Stephanie Rozek put this great clip together of a half dozen artists:

Local blogger Mira also took a spin through the neighbourhood, and gives the event her thumbs-up. We couldn’t agree more about how wonderful the crowds were. Half an hour after the party ended, the streets were back to their usual clean state.

We’ll also be posting a list of upcoming gigs where you can catch GPP musicians again. Stay tuned!

The Grand Porch Party is an annual neighbourhood music event where we take over the porches, and then the streets, for some fab early-summer music. First launched in 2011.
