I am in awe. The hundreds of people, the talented musicians, the gracious hosts – everything came together today in a way that had only been frivolously imagined.

People spontaneously took over streets. Musicians laughed, audiences cheered, and a gorgeous opening aria from Brooke Dufton stunned a crowd into bewitched silence.

The sun came out, the crowds came too, and from the broad smiles and pointed questions, it seems the Grand Porch Party could not only become an annual event, but could flow into neighbourhoods well beyond Uptown Waterloo.

A full rundown, with details of the artists and where you can find them again, will be posted soon. In the meantime, thank-you to everyone for being so utterly open to new experiences. You created magic.

About grandporchparty

The Grand Porch Party is an annual neighbourhood music event where we take over the porches, and then the streets, for some fab early-summer music. First launched in 2011.

We loved it!!! Next year it has to be longer than two hours. There was hardly enough time to get around to all the amazing talent! Great job.

I agree with the above comment! The event was amazing, but we ran into so many friends and neighbours (which was awesome) that we didn’t get to see all the talent out there!

Can’t wait until the next one!
